okay, i lied

I'm not going to do interviews this week. Mostly because I forgot about them. Instead, I'm going to work on interviews questions. I'm planning on interviewing Mr. Z. next week as well as a couple of students/groups about their DIY project.

Questions I will ask Mr. Z.:

• How do you define the DIY/20% time?
• Why did you decide to do this project with your class?
• Do you think this has helped your class learn?
• How has the project helped you as a teacher?
• What do you think about implementing 20% time into the school system?

Questions I will ask to students:

• How do you define DIY/20% time?
• How has it helped you academically?
• What did you learn about yourself?
• What did you learn about your topic?
• What would you change if you were to do this project again?
• Did your project succeed or fail? Why?

As well as creating interview questions, I've started working on the intro. I'm still not completely sure whether or not there will be a voice over, but I'm warming up to the idea. I think doing a voice over will boost the video just a bit and make it seem a bit more professional. I will at least attempt to do a voice over.

At this point in the project, I'm sort of behind. I'll need to ask permission from Twitterees to use their quotes to put it in the video. I also need to decide on a format for the video.

For the video, I could either do a voice over or text-on-screen to relay information. I think that I prefer to display the text instead of doing a voice over because I don't really want to do a voice over. However, I think that doing a voice over will make the video so much better. Text-on-screen gives the Windows Movie Maker, blue screen, rly bad mispellings youtube videos. Voice overs are much more professional and even more personal.

The video will be from an objective point of view. I will not be speaking from the perspective of a student or teacher. It will be an objective view on the 20% project. For the actual content of the video, I think it mostly be visuals and pictures. However, I do plan on doing a quick intro clip of the class working on a Friday and possibly an interview with Mr. Z.

nop i changed my mind again

I'm planning on changing my DIY project, again. Instead of doing a food blog which apparently I'm too lazy to keep up with I will create a project on the DIY project. It will be a 20% project on 20%.
This idea comes from my participation on last weekend's twitter #caedchat. What I noticed were that there were a lot of questions about the 20% project and people were really interested in it. What I'm planning to do is create a documentary type of video that explains the 20% project. It will be short, about 3-5 minutes.

What this video will address is:

• What 20% time is
• Why it's a benefit
• The problems of 20% time
• Other FAQs

I think this project will mostly be run from my own questions about the project as well as some questions asked on Twitter. To do this project, I will need to research the 20% time itself and find facts about it. I am also planning to interview teachers who participated in the Twitter chat.

What I think this will do is help teachers/students consider a 20% project. It will also spread information about a really cool project so that's always a plus.

never has blogging ever been so hard

No, but really. Blogging is really hard. I just don't really have anything to talk about?
As for progress on my DIY project, I think I've finally figured it out. Before I was planning to make my own dishes as I write my blog posts, but then I realized I didn't need to make the dish every single time. I just needed to put the recipe. This would make posting posts a lot more easier and quicker.

Also, I think I will put other things on my cooking blog, not just recipes. I'm planning to do some sort of an equipment type of thing. Who knows? We'll find out soon. I've been behind on blog posts but hopefully I will get caught up soon.

I also really need to pick it up. My grades are getting bad because I'm getting lazy. Being lazy sucks.

macorianaiena and cheese

This week I've forsursies locked down my project idea. During this weekend I will probably make mac and cheese which is so easy, but I have to start somewhere.

I think I will probably do a tutorial a week. I'm going to need to make a slideshow or something of the sort to pitch my idea to the class.

A possible pitch angle is to get people my age to cook for and rely less on their parents. Independence and stuff.

I think I should probably step it up and do recipes that aren't literally 15 minutes total. I guess next week could be like lasagna or something potato based or something.

Note to self: learn how to make lasanga.
Hey, maybe this blog could also be a journey type project where I learn to make stuff and report my findings.
Man, the ideas just keep rolling in.

Actually, what I'm going to do for my DIY project will be something a long the lines of a cook book. It will be a "survival guide" for the teen fresh out of highschool/college/whatever thrust into the cruel world of fast food and lack of money.
I'll put basic dishes that anyone can make under a low budget, cooking techniques and hints and tips and the such. Hints and tips such as, "Did you know that if you chew bubble gum while cutting onions you won't cry? Of course you do! Who doesn't?"

It may or may not contain snark or sarcasm or sly digs or any of the above.

I think I will make it in a blog, because printing books is a hassle and expensive. Also, I will probably make a  separate blog for it, not on this blog.

the importance of a day

My 150 point proj-
I mean DIY project is the The Importance of a Day. My plan is to collect an item or an idea every single day and record it. There will be two parts to it, a physical collection of all the things/ideas I encounter throughout the day on a poster board or something and an online version. I will need to learn how to use flash and take pictures of the objects and put them onto a flash. They will each link to a little description of what it is, how it relates to the day and if/what I learned.
